About FitBrief

One resume, one job description, quoted evidence.

FitBrief is a free, browser-based comparison tool. It reads one job description, splits it into requirements, and pairs every requirement with the resume sentence that supports it — or with an honest note that no evidence was found.

What the tool does

  • Accepts pasted text or a PDF, DOCX, TXT, or MD resume file, including scanned PDFs.
  • Extracts requirements, preferred qualifications, and responsibilities from the job description you paste.
  • Labels each one proved, partial, or missing, with the supporting resume sentence quoted beside it.
  • Exports the result as CSV, DOCX, or a printed or saved PDF page.
  • Offers two optional AI steps — scanned-page transcription and semantic review — each behind its own consent checkbox.

How the comparison works

The default matcher is local and deterministic: the same resume and the same job description produce the same matrix. It treats exact wording as one signal and keeps the underlying resume passage visible, so you can tell real evidence from an accidental word overlap.

Deterministic does not mean infallible. A match is a passage to review, not proof that you meet the employer's intent, and a missing label means the submitted text did not support the requirement — not that you lack the experience.

What happens to your documents

File parsing, scanned-PDF OCR, and the default comparison run in your browser. FitBrief has no account system, no application database, and no server-side document upload. The optional AI steps send only the disclosed input — prepared scanned page images or extracted text — to DeepSeek, after a separate explicit consent action, and are described in detail on the privacy page.

What FitBrief does not do

  • It does not score, rank, or predict applicant tracking system decisions, interviews, or hiring outcomes.
  • It cannot inspect an employer's private screening configuration or applicant pool.
  • It does not write experience you do not have, and it flags suggested wording that lacks a source sentence.
  • It does not verify employment history or contact employers or outside databases.
  • It has no paid tier, no signup, and no usage tied to an identity.

Reading the guidance pages

The role guides and tool pages on this site explain how to use the comparison for a specific purpose, such as keyword scanning or checking a parsed resume. They are educational guidance about your own documents, not claims about any employer's process.
